ARMED ROBBERS INVADE ABULE-EGBA

ARMED ROBBERS INVADE ABULE-EGBA, LAGOS
The influx of armed bandits into the Abule- Egba axis in Alimosho Local Government area  in  the out skirts  of  Lagos is keeping the residents in forced vigils.
In  many of the streets,  residents have to burn used tyres  into   fires throughout the night as a self help methods of keeping armed robbers out . They come in their large numbers –sometimes between 15-30 all youths; and  are usually armed to the teeth.

Only last night a watchman  recruited by one of the combined streets around Bode Williams Street  was heard blowing his alert whistle   and  alerting the residents to beware that robbers were  in the streets.

Last week, within the environment of the same  Bode Williams Street robbers numbering about 15 paid a visit to some of the residents who  but were unlucky as one of their hosts, who happened to  own a gun(perhaps a double barred gun ) fired some shots into the air. The sound scampered them away temporarily.

The recent incidence of constant armed groups is not unconnected with the recent action of Lagos State Government who, in her desire to create a mega city,   had to ban the use of the most popular means of transport (Okada)in some major roads in Lagos. With this , a large number of Lagosians  are thus thrown into the unemployment market.

A few days ago the same Lagos State Government announced through its information commission of yet another ban  on another mode transport –keke maruwa  .
This  actions of  Lagos State, though commendable  tend to impoverish the already poor populace .One case in point is the military –like manner  in which the state government pulled down billboards without providing affordable and economically beneficial alternatives; the majority of those affected are the mall business owners and worship  places .
